Metal is one of the easiest substances to recycle. Even alloys can be recycled and turned into new products. And it takes a lot less energy than refining it from raw ore. Everybody knows you can recycle aluminum cans... but not so many know you can recycle the metals used in medical and dental devices. Did you have braces or having a filling removed and replaced with a new one? Check with your dentist and orthodontist to see if they'll recycle.
