About 20 years ago, Transformers has a sub-set called Pretenders. This group mainly featured Transformers disguised in outer organic shells that they could control themselves to double their numbers on the battlefield. One that made it to fame and fortune in the Marvel Comic series was a Decepticon named Bludgeon.
