While trawling old Roving Crits posts on FM, I ran across one story I remember in particular not because of its quality (it's not all that good and I think I only managed to skim it when I first read it) but just one sentence that instantly jerked me out of the narrative: Someone with long dark curly hair wearing dull black field plate stood over the body, taking off a pair of leather gantlets.
