i have always loved lanais. they're such cool places to hang out in. basically a semi-outdoor courtyard attached to the house proper, lanais usually help bridge the gap between the house and its garden or pool. this was a very popular feature of houses in manila in the 1950s-1970s. i remember asking my lola once if our 1950s house in tondo once had a lanai and she wondered how i knew since it had been converted into a guest bedroom years before i had been born. heehee. never under-estimate the... read more
