Tony Hillerman wrote the Navajo Tribal Police mystery novels with Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee. I've read most of his books (all but the non-Navajo ones, I believe). I went through a stage of burnout and didn't read him for a few years, but got over it and caught up on the ones I hadn't read. I'd known his age and state of health, but will miss him even so.
