Updates. I got a pea coat for Christmas from my grandmother. An officially issued Navy one even; there's a name and number on the inside. I'm also told it was an officer's based on its make. It came with neat silver buttons, that I have, but my grandmother put on regular black ones. I prefer that. The silver ones are too flashy and I am in fact not in The Navy.
