"The Greeter" - a book review

I just finished reading "The Greeter" by Mary Ellen Cooper. In a nutshell: The book takes place in Cumberland Woods, Georgia. The main place of action is, of course, Wal-Mart which in the book is referred to as "The Store". There is a series of "main" characters but right off the bat you know the book is mainly about Miss Mary (The Greeter) and Jazz (The Cart-pusher, real name Jesabe). The book's back cover gives reference to Miss Mary adding detective to her "duties" and solving a mystery.... read more

Review: Jeff Dunham: Arguing With Myself

Ventriloquism is one of these skills, IMHO, that looks easier to do than it actually is. Granted, it relies on the fact that people's ability to distinguish the source of a sound (e.g. a voice) without visual cues is on the whole very poor; still, try to enunciate clearly without moving your lips and not sound like you're talking through a surgical bandage. Jeff Dunham has apparently been performing with his various "friends" for over a decade now (he appeared on Carson's Tonight Show but I don't...

Tumulty’s Pub: A Review

I dined at Tumulty’s for lunch today, and thought I’d take a moment to share my experiences there. As noted elsewhere, from the outside Tumulty’s looks like it got beamed in from 18th Century Europe. Stepping through the door immerses the visitor in a comfortable murk. Not so dark as to make seeing difficult, the dimly lit interior provides an aura of privacy and companionable closeness that puts one in mind of winding down for a quiet evening with friends. A ramp crosses the front of the building...

Yes I know. Been about a week. And I thought I'd get on more often and I guess I COULD but I'm usually knackered and the connection at night is the worst as everyone in the commons tries to log on. So there are a million photos to come... Let's go back in the mists of time to.. LAST Sunday. HoB. Excellent. Think I blogged that already. Hrm. Monday. Day off. Went to somewhere. Where did we go again? Magic Kingdom with Trev and Dave after Dave and I did a monster shop at publix. Was fun. Didn't...

Amazing Race Review

So, Bryan and I love the Amazing Race, and so we want to say a few things  Overall, I love this show... it is truely amazing! A Stubborn Aninam First Place- Azaria and Hendekea Bryan: Azaria has a big ole Head... it is candy corn shaped... I don't have a strong impression of them yet, but I like them.  Aaron: They are from New Orleans, and in the opening shot where they are looking at some bright green liquid, I commented, "Looks, that is New Orleans' Water!"  Second Place- Kynt and...
