Three nonprofit groups said Tuesday that they have been awarded $250,000 in grants from the to help raise student performance in middle school math and help close the region’s achievement gap. The got $100,000 for the Stepping Up to Algebra summer program, which is in its second year. The program helps 7th grade students fill in the pre-algebra gaps before taking 8th grade algebra.
