This was a book that was reccommended by the school librarian. It's a fast read, but interesting. I enjoyed the interaction between the two main characters Michael and Kensuke, especially Michael's growing realisation of Kensuke's past life and who he was, and what he'd lost. It serves to help him to grow too. I also felt sorry for Kensuke; the little he does say gives an insight into life in Japan in the 1940s and events of that time. Defintely a book I'd recommend.
