Movie Review: Death At A Funeral |
I missed Death At A Funeral when it was in the theater. It is a British comedy through & through. Not constant laughs but steady pacing the way the Brits like it. Chris & I loved it! Rent it immediately! I had originally wanted to see it because it looked funny and because Alan Tudyk is in it. I tend to follow actors from project to project: Firefly & Serenity as Wash, Dodgeball as the Pirate and now Death At A Funeral . He really gave his all as the poor slob who is "allergic" to Valium. I... read more

weekcaps - with a late WAT review |
WAT was on last week, but everyone else was out, so I waited. And here I go... HIMYM - Doug's around and Robin is a sex addict I laughed. I finally laughed and enjoyed the whole plot! Okay, maybe I'm sick of Robin getting turned on by the most unexpected events, and maybe she should seek some help. The only things that stand between her and sex, lately, are clothes and healthy teeth! Is nice to know she's not all that turned off by Barney, though - and Barney's a sissy. Well, not really surprised... read more

Year 2, Book 18 |

18. Disobedience by Naomi Alderman This book was a fairly quick read, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. It is the fictional tale of a woman who left Orthodox Judaism and then has to confront her past when she returns to the community for the funeral of her father, who was the exalted rabbi of said community. I give it an 8 out of 10. read more

The Weekend in Review |

Friday - I went to Comedy Night at COS with Sh**ita (and R). The show was sponsored by Worldvision . The PSA between acts really pulled at my heart strings. I was horrified, though not surprised, to hear that 1 in 2 children in the world lives in the most abject, gut-wrenching poverty one could imagine. It made me thankful for my ability to provide for my own little boy. At the end of the evening, I wound up sponsoring George, a three and half-year-old boy from Lebanon. He has a round face... read more

Eldest Review....yes, I know it's rather long |
The day – the very day, in fact, after I finished Eragon , I started reading Eldest . I’d read Eragon over the course of about three days, and I’d enjoyed it – despite its rather obvious flaws. But by this point, I’d done a little research on Paolini, and learned that he was twenty-three when he published Eldest , so I figured I was in for a treat. Being a writer myself, I think that what I currently write is almost infinitely better than what I wrote five years ago, and I naturally assumed... read more
