Poetry + Computer news

Computer news : I'll probably have to buy a new one. Good thing my parents still owed me a birthday gift. A friend (who helped identifying that the problem was either for the CPU or the motherboard) left me a laptop at my home so I get access to the internet ♥ I have nice friend :) Poetry : Remember that poem I was looking for the other day? Well, found it! (I had a link somewhere in the comments of my journal, hah!) Our Father Who Drowns the Birds In memory of Nicaraguans killed by the Contras... read more

Poetry...aka word vomit.

So I'm actually working on my poetry anthology tonight since GA decided to be bitchy and boot me while I was putting up auctions. I decided not to edit anything. Nor try to go back and title everything. So it's not going to be put together in a very pretty kind of way. Just presented as is. So yeah. It's still kind of rough on me in a way. I keep feeling slightly stupid for doing it. Repile brain says: "nobody wants to see this shit" Monkey brain says: "oh SHINY" Human brain says: "Fuck SAKE...

Angst Poetry

I have a curious habit of suddenly being overwhelmed with the desire to write a poem. It just jumps into my head, all formed and ready to be written down.  Last night Von and I were watching television (I have no idea what it was, I was reading) and the urge came on. It only happens every couple of months or so, but when it happens I can't ignore it. Perhaps this time it was influenced by my trip to Arizona and our long drive through miles and miles of empty desert. Part of me was wondering how...

Poetry Month

April is National Poetry Month, so when you see this, post a poem you like on your LJ.

Chinese poetry; Li Po, "Thoughts of a Quiet Night"

Excerpt from Jerome P. Seaton's introduction to The Shambhala Anthology of Chinese Poetry . It's fascinating for literature/poetry enthusiasts, non-readers of Chinese, and maybe the odd Firefly fanfic writer; I say this, being technically all three myself. *g* ~ All Western languages are written using one or another form of alphabet: letters used to represent the sounds of spoken words. There are advantages to alphabetic writing. Once you learn a relatively small and clearly defined...

April is poetry month

April is almost over, but it's still poetry month. Reading poetry itself is very inspiring; reading Poets & Writers makes me grind my teeth. It's good to remember that pure joy of the work itself rather than getting caught up in the how-do-I-pay-my-rent side of writing. Because the rent is paid. And the writing is a soul imperative. I Can't Speak God is the Being.. that may properly only be addressed, not expressed -- Martin Buber, I and Thou It's hopeless. Our heads are full of television...
