Leaving for Derbyshire today. Lawrence and I are going to a re-enactment show this weekend, though with my foot I'm not sure how much fighting I'll actually do. It's pretty swollen still. The kids and I journeyed out of Palmdale on a less used road and discovered more than a few gems in route to the Lake Los Angeles area. If your character can think it and desire to go there, the city will create it, as long as it's not harmful to the city and it's inhabitants. It has all the things that you'd expect a big city like New York or Chicago or LA to have except the population. It is populated with NPC's.
