The Mundus in Rome was a vaulted subterranean cavity. Romans regarded the Mundus as the way to the under world ruled by Dis Pater. Dii Inferi (Gods of the Underworld) and Manes (Spirits of the Dead) live in this world also. At the Mundus, people offered fruits and vegetables. The Mundus as closed except for three days a year.
