Rule #1 My Rating: 3 / 5 Plot Outline: A cop gets severely injured after discovering a body in the boot of a serial killer's car. Being able to see ghosts and spirits after the incident, he was transfered to the dodgy Miscellaneous Affairs Department. There, he learns that the department takes on the supernatural and hides them behind the mandate - "There is no ghosts.". A series of murders lead the two cops on a bloody trail. The first half an hour of Rule #1 is gripping. The... read more

Circuitry, software and Evolution |

Various life forms have evolved, some became extinct, some became stronger and smarter over the history of life on earth. The most important factor that contributed to the survival of species is the evolution of Brain Power, or in my terminology the software and circuitry (nerve calls and nerve connections). It is evident that a species has to have software to survive apart from the hardware. The Intelligence and brain power has evolved over generations to enable the organisms to survive in the... read more

Some things are not right: Yahoo news has not updated it's frontpage list in a few days. Whether it's the list that shows up in my email, on the list on the Yahoo homepage itself, it's still the same one that was up Friday, and even Thursday, I think. That's wierd. Why haven't they changed it? Also: The Iraq War. I must admit that, oftentimes, I have mixed feeling and don't know what to think about it. I know that at times I can sound very aggressive and pro-war and highly conservative, but... read more

Do We Really Know What Makes Us Healthy? By GARY TAUBES Once upon a time, women took estrogen only to relieve the hot flashes, sweating, vaginal dryness and the other discomforting symptoms of menopause. In the late 1960s, thanks in part to the efforts of Robert Wilson, a Brooklyn gynecologist, and his 1966 best seller, “Feminine Forever,” this began to change, and estrogen therapy evolved into a long-term remedy for the chronic ills of aging. Menopause, Wilson argued, was not a natural age-related... read more

Luke...I Am Not Your Father |
|

 |
Because I apparently don't have enough things to angst about right now, I've been thinking about my father lately. I've always been amazed at the effect he's managed to have upon my life despite having never been in it. His relationship with my mother had already disintegrated by the time of the 4th of July tryst that resulted in my creation. I was conceived amidst the rockets red glare, underneath stolen munitions bursting mid-air. Like most of my mothers friends from high school, Steve joined... read more
