Serves 4. 2 large acorn squashes 1 stick butter or margarine 1/2 cup maple cream (or maple syrup) 1 star anise pod 3 black cardamom pods A 2" cinnamon stick 10 whole cloves Freshly ground black pepper Preheat overn to 375 degrees F. Crush the star anise, cardamom, cinnamon and cloves with a mortar and pestle. Melt the butter or margarine in a small pan. Add the maple cream and stir until all is combined.
