Grammar pet peeve of the day: "The loft can be accessed by two ladders on each side of the kitchen door." No. You mean " a ladder on each side of the door" or "two ladders, one on each side of the door". Two ladders on each side of the door would mean a total of four ladders. I would also like to state that the Midwestern "needs [past tense verb]" still bugs me too, as in "that floor needs swept."
