Ohio is politically unusual in that, up until today, you could register to vote and submit an absentee ballot simultaneously. It's also a crucial swing state, and it's heterogeneity isn't capsulated (as, say, in CA, where you'll find many pockets of homogeneity)--McCain and Obama signs & stickers are everywhere.
