Expensive Religion

I bought two brand name articles of clothing today - one of them was on sale for $20 and one of them was on sale for $130. Lol. Some chick somewhere is really proud of me. Had another great interview on Thursday.  MJ dying sort of prevented me from going back for a second interview today because the radio station had to redo all of their programming and everything was crazy. Boo.  Have a third sit down with Tampa on Wednesday.  Cross your fingers folks! After the interview I went to the doctors... read more

Religion and Hippies

I realized with the help of my wife this weekend that I am over halfway to being a modern hippie and I never realized it.  We sat down and thought that the only thing that I wasn't doing that would bring me more into the realm of the hippie would be to become a vegetarian again (yes, I was once a vegetarian, not a healthy one but for a year I ate no meat.) , start wearing more organic and natural clothing.   I think that the vegetarian part will be pretty easy to ease back into, but I looked up...

PZ Myers and some thoughts about education and religion

I mostly shouldn't post to other people's blogs. I'm a bit of a jerk, and a lot of other people are a bit of a jerk, so it often escalates. I justify being a little bit of a jerk because they're being a little jerky, and then you're calling someone a shitrat fuckerface. The web has revolutionized communication, mostly allowing people to scream at each other without meaningful repercussions. I can post to some people's blogs because I know them pretty well, or because they are sufficiently reasonable...

[culture] Genetics, religion and society

A day or ago on my blog, with respect to a story about a "gene for religiosity" supposedly taking over due to disparate birth rates among religious and secular populations, I remarked: For one thing, if this were true, why hasn't the effect already been overwhelming? Religion isn't exactly a modern phenomenon. ericjamesstone offered some speculation in an interesting response: One possible explanation would be that up until the birth control era, men and women who were not predisposed...

Let's DO this!!!

So I guess this will be an introductory journal to the convoluted and crazy thing that is myself. I am a walking contradiction. I cause most of my own problems in my life. I am not like most 22 year old blonde girls raised in a good home. I am not a girly girl by any means and in fact, I absolutely cannot stand girls like that. I play violent video games such as Halo, Gears Of War, Hitman and Grand Theft Auto and enjoy them immensely. I have a rather perverse fascination with guns and other weapons...
