If I take my car into the garage with a problem, I can generally drop it off in the morning, get a call around noon with what needs to be done, and have a call at around 5pm telling me my car is done. And that's bringing it in for "there's a strange sound in the back of the car". With a bike shop, I can schedule an appointment two weeks in advance for a tune-up, drop it off in the morning, call a couple days later to see if they're done, and get it back in 1-2 weeks.
