Captchas are getting more and more difficult in an arms race against botnets. It seems that lately I have trouble doing them. 1. Is this proof that I am a bot? 2. OMG we have to invent something better than a captcha. SOON! read more
What is it with the captchas on LiveJournal? I myself have activated the captcha thing for comments as I do believe it prevents a certain amount of spam. But often on here when I leave comments on my friend's journals there is no captcha to be seen even though I know they use them. So one presses "post comment". Then it comes up "error" because one hasn't entered the captcha. So... have it appear on the page when posting the comment. Isn't that where they are supposed to be?!
There's been a lot of weird captchas lately. It's another smudge special! Does anyone still talk about their handwriting like it's "chicken scratches"? Is it just me, or does that first word appear to be Greek?
Yep, more captchas. At least they've stopped with the "hollow" letters. I hated those. Nothing really too strange here, just an umlaut. Superscript! That takes a little more effort in a text box! And then we have... that thing. A partial H? A number 1 with a line through it? Who knows?
There was a dry spell of weird captchas for a while, but then they showed up again. (Brought to you by LJ's service troubles, as these are easy to post!) So... now we have to type sideways as well? Is that supposed to be... I don't know what that is on the left. Subscript!
Something should be added to one of the commenting FAQs - maybe either FAQ 62 or FAQ 23 ? - about the option that journal owners have to require people to answer captchas in their journals when commenting.
