Half Assed Review: The Slayer's Apprentice by Zathyn Priest

Teh Blurb: When Senior Constable Daniel Hart stops bartender Phoenix Love from picking his pocket one evening, it's an inauspicious beginning, but Daniel falls for the beautiful Phoenix anyway. Things become complicated when Detective Paul Somerset, who's been on the trail of Australia's notorious serial killer "The Crucifix Slayer", sets his sights on Phoenix. The Curtis Reincarnation by Zathyn Priest

It has been while since I read a book with a baddy where I wasn't expecting there to be one (I hope that makes sense!) but here there is not only a genuine baddy to boo, but also the more expected (by me) bad parent/nasty character (not the same as a real baddy, but more commonly met both in fictional and RL). In fact, until a certain secondary character showed up, I was pretty much disliking everyone bar the protags ... and I confess, I still think they are marvellous. Tyler and Jordan are...

The Slayer's Apprentice by Zathyn Priest: Review

Okay, This was a tough one. It was difficult to get past the unremitting squee and give a coherent review. Lots of times, I read books I like, but the writer in me notices things, plot inconsistencies, character problems, technical difficulties, (this last one, most of all), Rarely, these days, do I get so lost in a book that the inner editor completely shuts down and I get to just read without interruption. This was one of those rare times, so thanks, Zath. On to the review: The Slayer's Apprentice...

What I'm reading

I'm currently reading WHAT WE REMEMBER by Michael Thomas Ford.  It comes out at the end of May.  It's a mystery, so I won't give away any spoilers.  Of course, it's good so far. Mike is an expert at developing characters.  Usually, I will read him in one sitting the first time to find out what happens; then go back and read more slowly to actually savor the writing.  However, as things are with me lately, I keep getting interrupted.  His sister told me last night that she finished her copy, and I...
