An Unlikely Heroine Part 6 |

Chapter 26 – The Power of Magic The blood of the witches covered the area, and splattered across all present. Raynor relished the contact of the warm blood. It yielded easily to his warm tongue, and tasted of victory. As his mate flew into the now crowded eyrie, Raynor nuzzled her in affection. She was as magnificent as he, maybe more so. Her feathers were kept immaculately, and she was larger than him. She was fierce, and proud, and he loved her. Sylvina reflected that no one was past love. All... read more

An Unlikely Heroine part 1 |

Chapter 1 – An Unlikely Heroine She hummed tunelessly under her breath whilst nonchalantly swinging one leg beneath her desk. It had been a surprisingly quiet Friday, which she was thankful for. It had allowed her to drift through her final day, before she went into the country to meet her two best friends, Jenny and Steph. It had been a while since they had last met up, as they had gone to university in Nottingham, whilst she had stayed to become a secretary at her stepfather’s company. She swept... read more

An Unlikely Heroine Part 5 |

Chapter 21 – Another Quest is Begun Julian awoke to a strange sensation about his midriff. When he opened his eyes, he realised that it wasn’t just his midriff that had a strange sensation. The wind was rushing past his face and he had a strange sensation of déjà vu. He looked down towards his chest and saw a giant pair of claws. They belonged to a rather large pair of fluffy legs, which in turn belonged to a giant feathered chest. The wing beats kind of gave it away. A giant eagle was holding... read more

Chapter 6 – Julian is at a loss I watched her run past me, and then I saw nothing of her. I knew that she was unsure of her own gifts, so I could only assume she had been taken by a fit of madness and jumped to her death. She had seemed eccentric from the start, and perhaps this time travel, or whatever experience she had been through had tainted her mind. Even so, there had to be a chance she was alive. With a cry of anguish as I realised she had gone, I rushed to the edge of the path, looking... read more

Unlikely Allies: the Problem of Sorting Harry |
Oryx-leucoryx had suggested in a comment to “Too Much There” that I consider Sorting Harry into another House, maybe Hufflepuff. While I agree that it’s clichéd to put the boy in Slytherin, the more I look at Harry, the less I can see either Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw for Harry (even though either might well have been good for him). I think there’s a reason why the Sorting Hat only seriously considered Slytherin and Gryffindor for him. I'm enjoying the AU Arsinoe de Blassenville is writing, I like... read more

The Epic Jane Austen Post of Doom |
Partway into 2008, I decided that this year, I would read all six Jane Austen books. As of a few days ago, I met this goal. So... Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you: THE EPIC JANE AUSTEN POST OF DOOOOM! I know that a lot of you are unfamiliar, or at least haven't read, many of Austen's books, so I'm going to copy a summary of each one from the Barnes & Noble Classics version of the book (the one I have :P), since it doesn't give away too much. I'll put them in the order of which I read... read more
