Torture for substitute teachers and children alike: A sub walking in to find just a lesson plan book (block plans) on the desk. I had to shuffle through shelves and drawers and filing cabinets and walk circles around the room trying to figure everything out. Much time was wasted finding stuff. The kids were a great help of course. However, it also didn't help that I wasn't quite sure right at the beginning of the day how discipline worked in the class.
