As a Buddhist, I’ve generally given up on social Christmas. The yearly exercise in more accumulation and attachment to “things” was something I generally gave up during my tenure as a nun. On the other hand, I am committed to a secret Santa thing with my blood family; I drew an immediate relative’s name out of a hat so I’m committed to that.
