It was on this date 20 years ago today that a series of demonstrators in and near Tiananmen Squared in Bejing took place. It originally began on 14 April 1989. This was lead mainly by students and intellectuals, such protests occurred in a year that saw the collapse of a number of communist goverments around the world.
