2007 Movie Review #32: "The Mist" |
Sorry, but "fog" just isn't that scary. The Mist was a 2-hour bore. The last 15 minutes helped redeem the film a little bit - it totally wasn't a cop-out, but other than that it wasn't worth watching. I'm not a big fan of sci-fi. Creatures, aliens, dinosaur-looking things, whatever you want to call them, just don't scare me. Marcia Gay Harden was great, though. Possibly worth a rental for the last 15 mins. alone, but not worth theater time. read more

I know that I just did a PV review, and I was preparing to do a single review of D's Birth . Remember when I previewed it way back when? Yeah, something suddenly came up. I'm talking about THE GREATEST PV EVER . I include it here because a lot of you probably really like pop music, and also due to that it is in fact THE GREATEST PV EVER . I know it is sort of long and tedious and you may want to skim though or stop, but please, I beg of you, see this through to the end. I almost made the... read more

The 2008 Pickle Press year-end review |
As always, the world of indie comics never stops being interesting. Everytime I think I'm getting a hand on this monster that is Pickle Press, some new plot twist shows up to make me realize I am forever stuck in a David Lynch film. If only I could get Laura Harring to show up... I started the year by working the Phoenix Cactus Con with my pal Wes Sweetser. I love this show, and it was great to see Wes again. It was the first time I brought Dare to the show, and it was well-received. ... read more

Movie Review: Niagara Motel (2005) |
Niagara Motel (2005) Starring: Caroline Dhavernas, Kevin Pollak, Craig Ferguson, Anna Friel, Wendy Crewson, Peter Keleghan, Tom Barnett, Kristen Holden-Ried, Krista Bridges Directed by: Gary Yates I actually have four or five movies to review that are more significant and topical than this one, all of which would probably hold more interest for anyone who might read them. So why am I reviewing this little-known Canadian indie instead of, say, the biggest box office success of... read more
